Homemade Onion Rings

If you want to make the perfect battered Onion Ring then you will need to make a perfect Batter Mix.

Making these Battered onion rings couldn't be easier , one onion and some batter will make a whole bunch of these and they only take a few minutes to cook.

Crispy Onion rings are great with Sausage and Mash or as a side dish for the perfect BBQ.

We have used brown onions for these but you could use Red Onions if you fancy something a bit different.

How to Make Onion Rings

An onion ring, also called a French fried onion ring, is a form of appetizer or side dish in British and American cuisine. The Onions are soaked in milk before dipping them in flour ready for frying.

The modern Onion ring is normally battered and fried so that you end up with a crispy Battered Onion Ring.

ingredients

1 Brown Onion
1 tablespoon of corn flour
1 bowl of beer batter mix
500 ml Vegetable Oil

Cooking Instructions

  1. Peel the onion , and slice it into rings. You should get about 20 good size rings from 1 onion.
  2. Put about 6 -8 rings into a container of corn flour, cover and shake to cover.
  3. From the corn flour , place all of the onion rings into the batter , and dip with a fork until fully coated.
  4. With the oil at 180 c , drop each onion ring into the pan with a fork. When it floats, add the next until all the onion rings are in.
  5. Cook for about 5 -6 minutes, then drain on a piece of kitchen roll.
