Mulled Wine Is a traditional Austrian Christmas Wine , often enjoyed as part of a festive Austrian market.
The tradition for making and drinking mulled wine at Christmas is as old as Christmas its self. Other beverages such as Cider are also Mulled at this time of the year.
There are many recipes for Mulled Wine and Mulled Ciders, most involve heating up the beverage and mixing it with mulling spices such as Cloves, Orange, Star-anise and of course Cinnamon and Nutmeg.
Although this recipe is rather expensive to make, the end results are always worth it.

Slow Cooker,
Mulled wine, also known as spiced wine and Glühwein , is an alcoholic drink usually made with red wine, and various mulling spices such as cloves, Vanilla, nutmeg and oranges.
Mulled wine is served hot or warm. It is a traditional drink during winter, especially around Christmas time and the festive season.
Mulled Wine is traditionally served at Christmas markets in Austria where it is called Glühwein .
There are many ways of making Mulled Wine and I am going to mix the traditional with the modern. We are going to boil the fruit and spices in a pan but warm the wine and hold it in a slow cooker.
Before we start we need to split the Vanilla pod by slicing it down the middle and cut up the fruit into segments, then set the slow cooker to High.
The great thing about making Mulled Wine this way is that it will keep for days on warm in a slow cooker, if you can resist the temptation to drink it that long.
